MAR VISTA VS MATER DEI & OLYMPIAN September 29, 2007
First duel meet of the season, and what a way to start. Low tide and overcast, perfect conditions for a running day. The boys dominated Mater Dei and Olympian, almost scoring the perfect 15. On the girls side, Nethania Penrod led the lady mariners to a 25-30 win over Mater Dei, and a default win over Olympian. Next week we go against Castle Park at Lucky Waller, it should be a close one! |
Start of the Varsity Boys race.
Race Summary: Last Friday the boys team faced the trojans from Castle Park. Though the race was almost postponed due to course difficulties (it wasnt marked) the mariners and trojans still went out and raced. The closest and most competitive race so far, the top five runners from each team were still together by the mile. Conditions were windy and the course was muddy, making it a true cross country race. All varsity runners, with exception of Edgar, ran personal records or close to it The score ended 25-30 trojans won. On the girsl side, Castle Park forfeited.

EXTRA:
MVH vs CPH
What a race was yesterday. With doubts coming into the race, the boys varsity team lined up once again at the beach to go against the lancers from Hilltop. Low tide, not too windy and temperature at low 70s it made a great day for competition. Just past the mile mark, the lancers still had their top 5 in the front pack, while the mariners had 3. But the race started passed the mile, Edgar Lopez, William Aderholdt made their move and opened a significant gap. In the end the mariners captured the win by a close 22-35. The lady mariners raced against the lancers empire. Nethania Penrod being able to break their top 3 and Shatall finishing in the top 10. Score was 18-52 in favor of the lancers.
